Software being made available to game developers as a standalone module
The library was originally developed as part of Metismo's Bedrock SDK to enable cross-platform development, including 3D support of titles across J2ME, Brew, Android, iPhone, Windows Mobile and PSP.
However, the company says feedback has prompted it to make a standalone OpenGL ES package available for PSP developers.
The Bedrock OpenGL ES package for the PSP is supplied as a static library to link to using Sony’s SN Systems compiler.
Supported features within the library include: lighting; fogging; vertex buffer objects; uncompressed, palletized and additional DXTC compressed textures; fixed and floating point data type adherence; and internal vertex array conversion to optimal PSP formats.
Metismo CEO John Chasey said: “While we developed the OpenGL ES support as part of the broader Bedrock technology it became apparent that for some developers a standalone OpenGL ES package for the PSP was particularly beneficial.”
