All users of its Bedrock platform can now optimise their content for Apple's device
Metismo has added iPad support to its Bedrock multi-platform content porting technology.
To re-cap, Bedrock's cross compiler already converts Java source so that it can be deployed across iPhone, Android, BREW, Symbian, Blackberry and Windows Mobile, PSP, Nintendo DS or the web (HTML5/Flash).
Of course, the iPad will run any existing iPhone app, but Metismo says its technology will enable developers to make the necessary code changes to fully utilise the features and higher resolution of the device.
Bedrock supports these extensions, including the ability to create universal binaries for both iPhone and iPad.
Metismo offers Bedrock operates on a site licence basis depending upon number of developers and platforms required, but does not charge fees per application or number of units sold.

John Chasey, CEO of Metismo, said: “With Bedrock taking care of many of the technical issues in a cross-platform project, our aim is to let the developer focus on making their content the best experience for the user.”
