ME TV: 'Mobile will consume 40bn gigabytes of data in 2012'

Amdocs' Nick East spells out the 'data capacity crunch' challenge in part 3 of the ME TV series.

This five part series was created for the ME website in association with Amdocs and Mobile Industry Review.

In this interview, Nick East, general manager of OSS for Amdocs, puts some numbers on the staggering growth in mobile data traffic, and outlines some of the fixes that can be made by operators.

For example, he explains how the 40bn gigabyte total traffic projected for 2010 represents a 40 fold increase on 2009 rates, and how one carrier – AT&T – saw a 5,000 per cent increase in mobile data demand in 18 months.

You can view the interview here.

ME TV resides on the home page of the site, and features filmed interviews with senior industry figures on the big issues of the day.
