The man responsible for Nokia's drive into multimedia recognised in the Outstanding Contribution category.
Nokia's Anssi Vanjoki was recognised for his Outstanding Contribution to Mobile Entertainment at the ME Awards 2008 last night. The category is a special award for the individual who's gone beyond the call of duty to further the cause of the mobile content industry, either through positive public perception or hard sales.
In his role as Nokia's Executive Vice President, Markets, Vanjoki has done both, leading the line with the launch of the Nseries multimedia computers and most recently the ongoing rollout of Ovi content and services.
Speaking via video-link at the ME Awards last night, Vanjoki said: "I am both suprised and deeply honoured by the recognition I have been given. It's really changing times in the world of entertainment, and mobile is changing many of the paradigms. The work that's being done across the whole industry is fundemental. The future, in my opinion, is fantastic."
Previous winners of the ME Awards' grand prix gong include Bango CEO Ray Anderson and mobile content pioneer Ralph Simon.
