Specialist will power D2C content sales from the labels artist sites via a viral widget.
Sony Music has struck an agreement with Materna Communications and GlobalCollect to offer digital downloads across web and mobile channels in the EMEA region.
The label is using Materna's 'viral widget' (microstore software embedded into online platforms and social networking sites) to drive traffic directly to the website of an artist to allow fans to share information and to download the artist’s repertoire
The first widget launches are for Britney Spears, Kings of Leon, Pink, The Priests and The Script.
The offer will soon be expanded to include artist merchandise and concert tickets. It supports a variety of localised payment methods via a co-operation with GlobalCollect.
