Massive Christmas sales spike for Doodle Jump iPhone game

Developer Lima Sky sold nearly 80,000 downloads on Christmas Day.

iPhone developer Lima Sky has revealed that it sold 79,422 copies of its Doodle Jump game on Christmas Day - up from Christmas Eve's already impressive 23,266 tally.

The company benefited from its game riding high in the App Store charts on the day when people were unwrapping their new iPhones and iPod touches.

Lima Sky's stats back up claims from analytics firm Flurry yesterday that iPod touch in particular fuelled a huge boost in App Store downloads on Christmas Day.

The developer says Doodle Jump is on course to have sold 500,000 copies in December alone, which at its $0.99 price point means nearly $350,000 revenues for Lima Sky.

The game recently passed the one million downloads milestone.
