Masabi raises $4 million

Series B funding round to push ahead with mobile ticketing drive.

Masabi is the UK developer that's cornered the market in mTicketing, and has launched services with Cross Country Trains, thetrainline.com, Virgin Trains and Chiltern Railways.

Masabi’s apps let people bypass the ticket office/machine. Instead, their phone can be scanned by a train guard.

It says this funding, from m8 Capital, will be used to support deployments with more rail companies, and enhance the core tech with features including NFC.

A move into the US market is also mooted.

“We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from consumers using our mTicketing solutions, proving that mobile phones can revolutionise the way we travel,” commented Ben Whitaker, CEO of Masabi.
