Major re-organisation at Yahoo Mobile

Mobile to be 'infused' across whole company rather than kept separate.

The re-think, masterminded by CEO Carol Bartz, has already resulted in a slew of senior exec departures, including those of Mitch Lazar, Marco Boerries and Steve Boom.

Like Google, Yahoo is very animated about the potential of mobile and appears to be integrating it with its core activities.

The company has more than 37 million unique users a month in the US, according to comScore/m:metrics, which is second to Google.

Cory Pforzheimer, Yahoo’s senior manager of corporate communications, told MocoNews: “We are infusing mobile throughout the organization, rather than having a specific team for mobile…The importance of mobile in Yahoo has increased and we are re-aligning the organization to do just that.”

He said Yahoo will continue to have small regional teams that will manage the company’s more than 80 carrier partnerships worldwide.
