Loopt adds 'real world' store discounts

Users can get money off when they check in to Paul Frank and Element.

The location-based social mapping service has added real rewards to its game, Loopt Star. The app rewards users with 'achievements', coupons and other rewards for checking into specific locations.

New deals include

* Check in to any participating Paul Frank store and get a 20 per cent discount and a chance to win the Paul Frank Super Fan Achievement.

* Check in to the Element Times Square store and receive an Element Eco-Water Bottle plus a 10 per cent discount off any purchase of $75 or more.
 
“With Loopt Star, everyone wins. Consumers get real rewards for playing a fun game with friends while brands can effectively drive traffic and purchases at stores in a completely customized way that best fits their individual needs,” said Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO of Loopt.

“The rewards we’ve added today will give consumers more opportunities to interact with their favorite brands, and we're excited to see such a strong response.”
 
Previous collaborations include the “Discover The Music Around You” reward to get free music from Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Mos Def and others when checking into any participating bar.
