Logica feels the need for Speedbrowsing

LogicaCMG has launched SpeedBrowsing to enable faster internet surfing on mobile devices.

The new technology helps network operators offer subscribers increased access speeds to off-portal websites and the automatic optimisation of all sites for the individual user’s handset.

High Speed Proxy, the product at the core of SpeedBrowsing, automatically reformats each web page, ensuring that everything on the users screen is optimised for the mobile environment. Also, an image compression engine reduces the download size of graphics.

LogicaCMG claims SpeedBrowsing fits with a new climate in which operators are turning away from legacy WAP platforms towards new mobile internet infrastructures that can deliver Web 2.0 type services such as blogging, photo and video sharing, advertising and social networking.

Chris Lennartz, marketing and business development director at LogicaCMG, said: “Consumer appetite for the mobile internet is predicted to rapidly increase in 2007 so it is essential that operators implement services that are high-speed and provide high-quality user experiences. The industry must strive to deliver services that are comparable in quality and experience to existing PC functionality. LogicaCMG is well equipped to help operators maximise the potential of this mass-market service.”
