LG expects to sell 13.5 million units in Europe on 2008, after strong 2007 results.
If achieved, the target will represent a 38 per cent increase in sales and raise market share in the region to ten per cent. The vendor sold 9.8 million units in Europe last year, which delivered $1.86 billion in revenue, and a 36 per cent volume increase over 2006.The growth was achieved on the back of stylish handsets such as Shine and Chocolate, and also high-end touchscreen devices like the Prada and Viewty. In 2008, LG will continue this focus and has also set a goal of becoming one of Europe’s top players in mobile TV and internet phones.
In 2007, the Chocolate became the first Korean-made mobile phone to sell more than 15 million units globally. The sold more than five million units.
