LG unveils music community site

LG has launched LG: Rally for Music, a web-based social platform for undiscovered musical talent.

The site invites music fans and musicians to create personal profiles and commune across shared musical interests. They can also win prizes through a video-based performance competition or a monthly sweepstake.

Musicians will be able to upload their performance video to be rated and reviewed by their peers, with the top four contestants gathering for a live competition in August 2008 in New York. A grand prize of $15,000 will be awarded to the musical
talent with the most votes.

Ehtisham Rabbani, VP of product strategy and marketing for LG Mobile Phones, said: "The Rally for Music programme is one of the many ways we are getting involved in music and music education. We look forward to crowning a winner and giving talented musicians an avenue to showcase their work."
