Milestone powered from sales in just four countries.

High speed mobile LTE is nothing more than a fantasy in countries like the UK, but it's proving popular in regions such as North America and Asia. US operator Verizon recently expanded its LTE reach to over 200 million people.

Following an October 2011 release in Korea, LG says its Optimus LTE smartphone has sold over one million units which was aided by additional relases in Japan, the US and Canada.

Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Mobile, said: "With brisk sales for a high-end smartphone, the Optimus LTE reaffirms LG's leadership in mobile LTE technology. The combination of LTE connectivity with LG's True HD IPS display has resonated with the public regarding the potential of LTE technology."

The smartphone features a 4.5-inch display, 8MP camera and a 1.5GHz dual core-processor. LG recently unveiled its first 4G tablet, the Optimus Pad LTE which Park is confident will appeal to consumers that crave fast connections on the move.
