Handset revenues up 24.8% while shipments increase to 31.6 million.
LG has announced a strong set of financials for Q3 for its mobile division, with handset shipments and revenues both rising sharply.
The company sold 31.6 million phones during the quarter - up 37% year-on-year. Meanwhile, handset sales reached KRW 4.38 trillion ($3.53 billion), up 24.8% compared to Q3 last year.
The overall operating profit for handsets was KRW 384 billion ($309 million).
LG highlighted strong sales in Europe and emerging markets, particularly with its Cookie and messaging handsets. However, it reported a slight decline in sales in both North America and Korea.
As a result, LG's mobile division's profitability fell quarter-on-quarter. However, the company remains optimistic for Q4, with the launch of its first Android handset and three new Windows Mobile devices, as well as the new LG Chocolate phone.
