MWC 2011: LG licenses NewBay social tools

Snaps up global deal for the LifeCache Social Networking Gateway.

This new agreement builds on an existing arrangement between the two firms.

LifeCache is currently the enabling platform for LG’s social-networking client on devices via Verizon, France Telecom Orange and Rogers.

The platform enables these parties to develop customised social networking clients, and to enable the upload and distribution of media and status updates across end-users' social networks.

Paddy Holahan, CEO, NewBay said, “LifeCache SNG is just one component of NewBay’s complete offering to deliver a ubiquitous content experience across multiple devices. LG recognize the value of our platform and we look forward to working closely with them to expand digital content services across all their consumer devices.”

Meanwhile NewBay has also launched LifeCache Digital Vault 2.4, adding strong music and media features to the cloud and the device.

Its cloud capability means users can copy their online purchases and CDd to the cloud and listen to them from any connected device.

LifeCache Digital Vault already powers a cloud media service for one operator.
