Augmented reality app will be preloaded on a third of new smartphones this year.
Augmented reality startup Layar has an active user base of more than 716,000 people, with 1.6 million having used its app at least once in the last six months.
The company announced the news at its first-anniversary event in Amsterdam on Friday, where it also revealed new business partnerships and technical features.
The deals included an agreement with LG to preload the Layar app onto its new Android smartphones, as well as an extension to a previous deal with Samsung to put Layar on its Bada phones.
These, together with deals with TCT Mobile (Alcatel) and an unnamed Chinese handset firm, fuelled a claim by Layar that its app will be preloaded on one in three new smartphones sold globally this year.
Layar says it now has more than 1,000 published layers for its app from developers, with 3,000 more in testing. Its platform has 4,000 active developers, with National Geographic the latest brand to trial the AR app.

Meanwhile, the birthday event also saw several new features announced for the Layar app, including something called Floaticons.
They're described as animated 3D objects which can be left by users in specific locations with messages. Everything from robots and monsters through to a World Cup series.
The company says Floaticons - which launch in July - are its first step into the digital goods market, raising the prospect that it could charge for virtual items in the future.
Finally, Layar is teaming up with Swiss company Kooaba to include image recognition in its app. That will plug one of the gaps that's been filled on Android by the Google Goggles app.
