Gives third parties the ability to take its AR platform to brands all over the world.
The augmented reality pioneer has launched Layar Connect, which enables partners to build full-service content management systems.
It says tools built on top of Layar Connect – called Layar Creation Tools – will reduce the cost of creating AR content, and let people without any technical background do the creating.
The ultimate aim is a virtuous circle that leads to ever more partners creating their own tools to foster the development of more and more localised AR content.
But it will preserve quality by ensuring that Layar Creation tools can be recognised only by the Certified Layar Creation Tool badge – only tools meeting Layar standards are assigned this badge.
"We're focused on the democratisation of augmented reality and want to make it easier to create and publish AR content for all," said Maarten Lens-FitzGerald, Layar co-founder and general manager.

"With Layar Connect, we are the first in the industry to move management and publication of AR content to third parties. This creates opportunities for Layar partners to add increased value to their business - a big step in the professionalisation of the AR industry."
The initiative is another sign that spoke in Layar's strategy to take AR mainstream using the viral effect.
Earlier this year it launched Layar Player, which lets app developers embed an AR programme within their own products.
