New Stiktu service lets users add text, images, stickers and sketches to objects by scanning them with a phone.
Layar has been testing this idea with a private beta group for months, but is now ready for a launch.
It intends Stiktu to be an app through which people share their favourite things, and rate their favourite items. The idea is that anyone who scans that item will see the post directly on top of it, no matter where they are in the world.
It works best with flat, well-lit items like posters, magazines and product packaging.
Not immediately apparent how Stiktu works, even after watching the video below. Can you see anyone's tags when you download the app? If yes, wouldn't that be a little chaotic?
Anyhow, the app is now available to download in the iTunes App Store and Android Market in The Netherlands, Germany, UK, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece and France.
