Making it easier for users to find interesting AR content around them.
Augmented reality startup Layar has updated its Android app to version 3.5: the first version to get its new stream feature.
The new technology makes it easier for Layar users to find AR content around their current location.
When they launch the app, they'll be presented with a list of nearby content, rather than having to search for specific topics or layers.
"Augmented Reality is starting to behave like a true mass medium," says CEO Raimo van der Klein.
"It is becoming scalable with the introduction of its own discovery mechanism. We know that real-time location-based content discovery drives frequent re-use of the Layar browser."

Layar says that developers have now created more than 700 layers for its AR browser, with thousands more in development. The app is serving 2.4 million virtual objects a day to its users.
Layar 3.5 is only available for Android at the time of writing, but Layar says that the iPhone version of the app will get the update soon.
