9.6-inch touchscreen fingered by Taiwanese suppliers.
Apple may not have announced its long-rumoured tablet device at its recent 'It's Only Rock and Roll' event, but it may be on the cards for a February release.
That's according to the Taiwan Economic Times, which quotes local parts suppliers as suggesting that they are supplying Apple with components for a tablet device this December, implying a February launch.
You want more details? They've got 'em: the device will apparently have a 9.6-inch touchscreen, a chipset built by Apple's own PA Semiconductor subsidiary, and built-in 3G/HSDPA connectivity.
Oh, and a "long lasting battery pack", which may address concerns that Apple's current flagship portable device, the iPhone 3GS, burns through its battery more quickly than users would like.
Assuming the February date is true, it may set the scene for a product unveiling in January - likely not at an established show like CES, but at an Apple event.
