Konami to roll out big guns

Konami is to bring Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, Silent Hill and Castlevania to mobile in 2007.

These three iconic games franchises are due for release in the Autumn, with Pro Evo timed to coincide with the console launch. The releases mark the first phase of Konami’s renewed push into mobile and will be distributed by Glu Mobile, with which Konami signed a major agreement earlier this year. Glu Mobile will oversee the release programme across Europe, EMEA, Australia and New Zealand.

Florian Stronk, head of mobile business department at Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH, said: “This line-up clearly proves Konami’s commitment to expand the availability of its key properties across all gaming platforms. We are extremely pleased by the work that our dedicated European mobile development studio has delivered and we are confident that the market is going to share our excitement.”

Pro Evo 2008 includes six playing modes featuring a wide range of officially licensed national and club teams, as well as five pitches with varying weather conditions. A secondary one-button access control system has also been implemented, allowing users to play with just their thumb.

The new version of Silent Hill is the first on mobile, while Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is a conversion of the Game Boy Advance title
