Kobo takes its e-reader app to Android

Hails 'fastest-growing mobile platform'.

E-books firm Kobo has announced the release of its e-reader app for Android smartphones.

The launch follows its release on iPhone, iPad and BlackBerry devices. Kobo itself also sells a physical e-reader device, with all of these tying into its e-books store.

"Now the fastest-growing mobile platform, many of the new Android devices are great for eReading and we're excited to deliver Kobo to the millions of Android users around the world," says CEO Michael Serbinis.

"We've adapted the features our customers love and expect from Kobo to ensure that we provide the best reading experience for Android-enabled smartphones."

Like Amazon's Kindle, the Kobo service synchronises isers' e-books across different devices. It has a catalogue of more than two million free and paid e-books available.
