Just 27 per cent of m-commerce consumers are satisfied with mobile retail experience

70 per cent of users unwilling to purchase products via mobile devices.

Information management firm Stibo Systems says retailers need to work harder to improve their mobile experience.

Just 30 per cent of m-commerce users are willing to make a purchase through their device, leaving a 70 per cent gap in the market.

The survey revealed 27 per cent of consumers were pleased with their mobile retail experience, while just 8.6 per cent rated their experience as ‘excellent'.

Over two thirds of the quizzed consumers preferred to use their laptop for online browsing, six per cent favour their smartphone and two per cent opt for their tablet, according to the report.

Mark Thorpe, managing director UK at Stibo Systems, said: "Traditionally, retailers have viewed mobile as a means of completing sales. This needs to change; mobile is no longer just a purchasing tool, but also an experience."

The report continues by revealing the reluctance of consumers choosing m-commerce as 36 per cent feel the small screen size makes it too tricky and 36 per cent distrusting the device's security.

Results showed that age plays a factor for security worries as the 53 per cent of under 55s are concerned, compared with only 29 per cent of the 55+ bracket.
