Just 13 per cent of Facebook users 'Love' the pages they 'Like'

Entertainment categories account for 50 per cent of personal recommendations.

Social recommendation app LoveThis runs on iOS, inviting users to share the things they love, such as books, builders, and yes, Facebook pages.

The startup claims just 13 per cent of Facebook page recommendations were described as a 'Love' on the service.

Entertainment pages such as films, music, and games accounted for 50 per cent of recommendations, while restaurants, hotels, and other things to do secured under one per cent of all shared Likes.

Furthermore, just 30 per cent of Likes came from two per cent of users, suggesting the promotional tool isn't all it's made out to be.

Alexis Dormandy, founder and CEO, LoveThis, said: "Facebook positions its like button as a way to demonstrate ‘positive feedback to your friends on things you care about’.

"Our study shows that when it comes to recommending something, that’s not the case. It seems most people won’t personally recommend the things they like on Facebook. At best it’s no more than a passing thumbs up, and in most cases, the fact that your friend ‘likes’ something is worthless as a personal endorsement."
