Judge forces iPhone exec to stop work

Employee ordered to down tools as court rules agreement with ex-employer IBM may have been violated.

A New York district court judge has ordered newly-installed iPod/iPhone engineering chief Mark Papermaster to "immediately cease his employment with Apple Inc until further order of this court".

Papermaster, who joined Apple last week after 25 years at IBM, has until November 18th lodge an objection.

The ruling came after IBM filed court papers arguing that Papermaster broke his agreement not to work for a competitor for 12 months.

Papermaster was hired by Apple as a replacement for Tony Fadell, who spent seven years with the company and is attributed with inventing the iPod.
