Not such an unlucky number after all.
Australian developer Halfbrick's iOS-based game takes players on an adventure with hero Barry Steakfries to commandeer a series of jetpacks from villainous scientists.
Now, Jetpack Joyride has reached the milestone for 13 million downloads since its September 2011 launch.
This comes following Halfbrick's decision to drop the $0.99 price tag and make the game free-to-play in December.
The game won TUAW's '2011 Best App Ever' award and USA Today's 'Top 10 Video Game of 2011'.
Jetpack Joyride has been nominated by the IMGA for 'Best Casual Game', which means Halfbrick will be hoping for further glory at the awards ceremony at Mobile World Congress 2012 later this month.

Additionally, Halfbrick says Steakfries' fans can expect the "biggest content update" for Jetpack Joyride to date in March.
