Jamie Oliver launches iPhone recipes app

Take that, Delia...

TV chef Jamie Oliver has taken to the App Store, with a 20 Minute Meals application for iPhone and iPod touch.

It’s a premium app costing £4.99, rather than a free promotional application for one of his shows or books.

It has 50 recipes, with step-by-step photography and more than 90 minutes of video tutorials starring Oliver himself. There are also voice prompts during the recipes, and an interactive shopping list to help buy ingredients.

Everything is built into the app, including the videos – there is no streaming involved. That means it’s big – 404MB in fact – but that there’s no connectivity issues when using it.

The app has been released by Zolmo, and is one of the first examples of a premium, branded cookery application for iPhone.

We suspect it won’t be the last though – Jamie’s app has shot to the top of the Top Grossing chart on the UK App Store.
