The Germans will help even if the US government won't.

It's giving the big car makers 100 million free page impressions on banner ads across its mobile social network for a symbolic  payment of $1.

The campaign will be displayed between January and March 2009 on all carriers in the US.

Itsmy.com's owner GoFresh made the move after a survey revealed that, of 1,000 respondents, 81 per cent would love to support the automotive industry. US car makers have been amongst the best mobile advertisers at itsmy.com in the past.

Antonio Vince Staybl, CEO of GoFresh, said: “It is our heart’s desire to care for the people who are part of the community by supporting their employers and on the other hand to support our advertising partners who believed in mobile advertising first.”
