Beta kicks off at the start of September.
iPhone-focused social network iRovr is returning as a native app, after its mobile web version was discontinued earlier this year.
The original version launched in July 2007, and offered a way for iPhone users to upload blog posts and photos, as well as share YouTube video links and Safari bookmarks.
At that time, all this was done via email on the iPhone, since it was in the days before the App Store. The service went quiet earlier this year, but is now being revived.
"If you hadn't heard already, iRovr is being re-born as a native iPhone app," says an email to former members, sent out yesterday.
"Everything that made the web app so great is there and everything we could do to imagine it even better is now a reality."

iRovr is calling for users to sign up for a beta test, starting on 1 September, with 30 respondents due to be chosen for the programme.
"We anticipate iRovr being available in the App Store by October 1st," says the company.
The question is what iRovr's app will offer that isn't already supplied by the apps of bigger services, such as Facebook and Tumblr.
