Titan Publishing takes on IDW with App Store robots in disguise.
Titan Publishing has launched the first issue of its official Transformers comic for iPhone.
It's free as a taster for the upcoming series of apps - the same strategy that Titan used on its previous apps for Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep.
The first Transformers issue includes a story written by Simon Furman with artwork from Geoff Senior - names that will be familiar to Transformers buffs.
"It's a simply incredible chance for fans of the warring 'Robots in Disguise' to experience incredible stories that expand upon and underpin the incredible movie universe," says Furman.
Titan will be releasing more paid Transformers comic apps in the coming weeks - although on the UK and Irish App Stores only.

However, the apps will face competition. IDW Publishing has a free Transformers Comics app available already, which lets people buy digitised versions of existing comics via in-app payments.
The company also sells standalone versions of the individual comics for 59p apiece.
