iPhone's latest music game is Likwid

Finding the missing link between Maroon 5 and Poison...

iPhone music games are exploding in numbers, which is likely due to the 25-million-downloads success of Tapulous' Tap Tap Revenge game on Apple's App Store.

The latest contender is Likwid, a game released by US publisher FunMobility. It's a musical puzzler, with each licensed track having five puzzles to complete.

The list of artists whose tracks are featured hints at a rawk focus for the game. Okay, there's David Bowie, Maroon 5, Duran Duran and Blondie, but also Lynyrd Skynyrd, Slaughter, Poison, the Allman Brothers Band and Grand Funk Railroad.

Oh, and Culture Club.

Every level links through to the iTunes Store, encouraging gamers to buy the song they've just been playing.
