iPhone release for Peggle?

Reports say PopCap is lining up an App Store debut for its smash hit casual game.

It’s one of the most popular casual games on the internet and iPod, and now it seems that US publisher PopCap is to bring its leading Peggle franchise to both the iPhone and Xbox Live Arcade.

Wired spotted a recent update of PopCap’s Twitter feed confirming that a touch-sensitive version of the pinball-come-puzzle game will be released on the Apple Apps Store in the first half of this year.

The site also claims that PopCap is planning to release a version of the game on Xbox 360 – presumably through Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade service. A spokesperson for the firm stated: “We’re not saying anything more at this time, sorry. Soon, but not quite yet.”
