App Store now generates more money for French games publisher than any single mobile operator.

If you thought the clamour for iPhone games was just hype think again, because Gameloft says the App Store is its single biggest sales channel.

Speaking to PocketGamer after the company published its Q3 earnings today, CFO Alexandre de Rochefort also claimed Gameloft is now "the biggest or second biggest publisher on the iPhone in terms of revenues generated."

And that revenue is set to grow, with Rochefort "amazed" that there weren't more AAA titles available through the Apple portal and that small developers who have experienced success may find it short-lived.

He said: "The window of opportunity for small developers is going to close. From a consumer's point of view, it won't make any sense to buy a game even for £1 or £2, if it's significantly less exciting than a game sold for £4 or £5."

Last week developers themsemves acclaimed Apple the best games format holder in light of its work with App Store and iPhone.
