Confusingly, though, the SEG Clip is a USB stick that plugs into users' PCs.
I-O Data has launched the first digital TV tuner for iPhone. Well, sort of. It's called the SEG Clip, lets users watch Japanese 1Seg DTV broadcasts, and takes the form of a USB stick.
Sharp ME readers will already be out of their seats yelling 'But the iPhone doesn't have a USB port!' That's true, but the SEG Clip actually plugs into users' computers, letting them stream the DTV to their iPhone over a Wi-Fi network.
They're watched using a free app called TVPlayer, which can be downloaded from the Japanese App Store. Users can also record TV shows to be watched on their iPhone later.
The device is due to be launched in Japan at the end of this August for around £42. It's not much use to anyone outside of Japan, although the 1Seg standard is also used in Peru and Brazil.
