And 6m free ones.

Mobile games developer Rovio says its Angry Birds game has sold four million copies for iPhone, and generated another six million downloads of its free Lite version.

"Even though we planned carefully in terms of how to have a hit game, we're amazed how sticky Angry Birds is in terms of chart position," CEO Mikael Hed tells PocketGamer.biz.

The game now ranks alongside other huge-selling independently-developed iPhone games like Doodle Jump and Flight Control, representing another indie success story on the App Store.

Hed says Rovio is now training its sights on taking the game to other smartphones and gaming platforms. It already has an HD version for iPad, with Android next up.

"I believe in the longterm we can do ten times the revenue we've done on iPhone on other platforms," says Hed.
