Report indicates 15 per cent average global decrease
Distimo's latest mobile apps report has highlighted some interesting price trends on the Apple App Store.
Among the headline findings are:
- The most popular apps are the most expensive in Europe ($3.86 on average), and the least expensive apps are in North America ($2.43) and Asia ($2.69).
- Globally, prices of the most popular apps decreased 15 per cent on average between December 1st 2009 and February 28th 2010. The largest relative price decrease occurred in Australia, where prices dropped 27 per cent from $3.77 to $2.74.
- The most popular apps in the Navigation category are the most expensive in Europe. Distimo says this is due to the large number of turn-by-turn navigation apps covering different regions on the continent (e.g. TomTom Western Europe, Eastern Europe, UK and Ireland).
