Because a bump is as good as a poke in these situations.
iPhone contacts app Bump has added a new feature allowing users to make new Facebook friends simply by bumping handsets.
It builds on the app's existing features, which let people exchange contact information by tapping their devices together - initiating an over-the-air data swap.
Now, users can link their Bump app to their Facebook account, so that when they meet other Bump users in the real world who've done the same thing, they can add each other as friends there and then.
Another new feature in the app's latest update is the ability to set different profiles - for example 'Work' and 'Personal' - to decide which information to share when bumping.
While the Facebook feature is fun, we wonder if more social networks will be added in future. For example, professional users of Bump might prefer to add people they meet on LinkedIn.
