Further evidence of Apple's unstoppable drive beyond consumer markets.
Mobile enterprise solutions firm Good Technology claims the iPhone 4S bagged 37 per cent of total enterprise activations in Q1 2012, which is followed by the iPad 2 with 17.7 per cent.
Meanwhile the new iPad – released on March 14th – secured 4.3 per cent of activations in Q1 and 12.1 per cent in March alone, demonstrating the rapid impact the device has made on the market.
The Motorola Droid was the number one Android device, though it only accounted for 1.6 per cent of all activations, which puts it in seventh place for the quarter overall.
Additionally, Android smartphones accounted for 26.1 per cent of all activations, while tablets came in at 2.7 per cent.
It all goes to show the major shifts taking place in the enterprise world. Ten years ago, it was the province of Microsoft Mobile, before giving way to RIM.
Now it appears as if the consumer preference for iOS and Android is being replicated in the workplace.
