Subtle differences between O2, Orange and Vodafone.
Apple has launched the pre-order process for its iPad tablet in the UK, complete with details of the 3G data tariffs being offered by its operator partners.
As confirmed last week, the Wi-Fi only iPad will cost £429, £499 and £599 respectively for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models. Customers who want 3G will pay £529, £599 and £699 respectively.
The data plans are interesting, as there are subtle differences between the rates offered by O2, Orange and Vodafone for 3G data on the device.
O2 will sell one day and 500MB of data for £2, or monthly plans of £10 for 1GB and £15 for 3GB.
Orange is also charging £2 for its daily rate, but users will only get 200MB of data for that. It's also offering one week and 1GB for £7.50, and two monthly tariffs: £15 for 3GB (matching O2) and £25 for 10GB.

Finally, Vodafone is offering two monthly plans only: 250MB a month for £10, and 5GB a month for £25.
Another detail: only O2 users will be able to choose a data plan and get started from their device. Those on Orange and Vodafone will have to call the operator to get set up.
