iPad apps making $370k a day, claims developer

Wherever you go, you'll always take the estimates of Weather HD firm with you.

iPad is currently generating more than $372,000 of app sales a day, according to analysis by Vimov, the developer of the popular Weather HD app.

The company crunched numbers based on its own sales figures, as the app bounced around the iPad charts.

We'll spare you the full calculations - you can read them here - but the end result is an estimate that the Top 1,000 paid iPad apps made $372,649 on 15 April, with apps below that discounted from Vimov's sums.

That's based on US sales only, which if no more iPads were sold, would still mean a market of $136 million annually. Naturally, as more iPads are bought, and the device launches globally, Vimov's figures will soon be outdated.

"If the iPad were to enjoy a lucrative growth as the iPhone’s, which rose from 100 million downloaded applications in the first 2 months to 4 billion 19 months after, we can easily see the iPad’s App Store becoming a $1 billion per year market in 2 years," blogs the company.

Vimov also claims that as things stand, the number one paid iPad app is selling around 5,515 downloads, with the tenth selling 1,075.
