Intel launching white-label app store for netbook makers

AppUp already has deals with Dell, Acer, Asus and Samsung.

App store mania is spreading beyond the mobile phone industry now. Earlier this week Samsung launched its app store for HDTVs and Blu-ray players, and now Intel has one for netbooks.

The store will offer applications for a range of netbooks, with Intel claiming its AppUp SDK has already been downloaded by more than 2,500 developers.

Intel plans to offer the store as a white-label service for its netbook-maker partners, who'll offer it with their own branding.

Already on board are Dell, Acer, Asus and Samsung, which covers a decent chunk of the netbook market from day one - although each will launch their versions of the store separately in the coming months.

According to VentureBeat, Intel is looking beyond netbooks with AppUp too - it could be launched for any device that uses Intel architecture in the future, including handheld devices.
