Users now able to browse photo feeds, like pictures, and follow profiles via PC.
Retro photo-sharing platform Instagram launched as an iOS mobile app back in October 2010, before getting bought by Facebook and introduced to Android in spring last year, which has seen it top 100m users.
The company made its first desktop-based move in November when it launched profiles onto the web, which allowed users to view recently shared pictures. Now, Instagram says the service is fully PC-optimised, with the exception of uploading photos and searching via hashtags.
That means the loyal army of mobile users can browse through the real-time photo feeds of people they follow, like photos by double clicking on them or pressing the like button, and make comments via PCs and laptops.
Kevin Systrom, co-founder, Instagram, said: "We believe that you should be able to access Instagram on a variety of different devices, any of which may be convenient to you at a given moment – including your desktop computer or tablet.
"We do not offer the ability to upload from the web as Instagram is about producing photos on the go, in the real world, in real-time. On the other hand, Instagram for the web is focused on making the browsing experience a fast, simple and enjoyable one. Simply put, we’ve brought a simple, powerful, and beautiful Instagram browsing experience to the web."
