Ka-shing investment hints at music phone heading to 3.

Telecoms billionaire Li Ka-Shing has confirmed to Forbes that he's participating in streaming music firm Spotify's latest round of funding.

Although his Ka-shing Foundation was rumoured to be taken part in a round up up to $50 million earlier this month, a spokesperson has now confirmed the news.

Here's where it gets intriguing, though. Ka-shing is boss of Hutchison Whampoa, which includes operator 3 and handset maker INQ among its assets.

The spokeswoman tells Forbes that INQ CEO Frank Meehan will be taking a seat on Spotify's board.

Having launched its Facebook phone last year, before announcing a pair of Twitter-enabled handsets this month, could a music phone be next up for INQ - sold through 3 with Spotify preloaded?

It's speculation for now, but it's far from unreasonable.
