InMobi: Android has surpassed iPhone OS for the first time

Impressions from Google OS up 4.9 per cent in Q1.

InMobi describes itself as the world's largest independent mobile ad network, serving 31.9 billion monthly impressions to over 220 million consumers.

Its Mobile Insights Report: Global Edition March 2011 report shows how fast Android is growing compared to its smartphone rivals.

However, it's still Nokia and Symbian that boss the market overall.

Total mobile ad impressions on the InMobi network grew by 21 per cent (December 2010 to March 2011), with impressions from smartphones alone up 2.8 billion during the period.

Globally, 35 per cent of all mobile ad impressions now occur on smartphones.
