Apple could be carving up a slice of contactless action.
NFC is thought to play a huge part in the future of mobile payments, with more operators and OEMs jumping into the space, perhaps most noticeably demonstrated with Samsung's high-end Galaxy S III.
Rival firm Apple is now thought to be eyeing a leap into the contactless market, as AppleInsider reports an iPhone 5 casing that appears to have an NFC chip inside.
The Cupertino giant revealed Passbook in June, an iOS 6 m-commerce hub that will aggregate all daily deals and payment services in one place, but no direct NFC comment has been made.
Similarly, no official talk of an iPhone 5 has been offered, but the device is thought to be unveiled on September 12th.
