IMImobile joins WAC

Believes its DaVinci content platform will help WAC members shape 'app development and seeding'.

IMImobile is one of the world's biggest mobile VAS specialists. It has a presence across Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East and Africa, with71 operator and enterprise customers generating 40m billing transactions a month on its systems

Naturally, it will aim to share its experience and systems with the WAC, which is working towards creating an open, standards-based application market.

Vishwanath Alluri, chairman of IMImobile, said: “In recent times we have witnessed a sizeable shift in consumer behaviour towards an insatiable demand for mobile apps and services. Our partners and customers are responding to this shift by developing new consumer engagement strategies.

“Core to these strategies is a focus on application delivery and monetisation. We very much believe that our expertise will be beneficial to WAC and the interests of its operator, media and enterprise members, in creating an open mobile marketplace.”

Launched in February 2010, the Wholesale Applications Community (WAC) now comprises representatives from 73 companies from across the mobile ecosystem.
