IMGAs to pass judgement

The International Mobile Gaming Awards prepare to judge 80 of the best.

The 2007 IMGA Awards is now closed for entries having received more than 400 submissions from 33 countries.

An international panel of judges is now making a first pre-selection of the best 80 games, which will then be presented in front of an international jury in Marseilles. The jury will select five nominees in each of the five categories:

Excellence in Gameplay
Excellence in Connectivity
Excellence in 3D
Best IP-based game
Best Casual Game (developed in Flash, Java, etc)

The eventual winners will be unveiled at a special ceremony at Mobile World Congress in February.

This year the IMGA has focused on unpublished games. Forty-five per cent of all entries came in from Europe, led by the with the UK, while 26 per cent came from Asia, 17 per cent from North America and 12 per cent from RoW.

Maarten Noyons, founder and managing director of the IMGA, said: "We have seen new work of both the established studios as of small studios and individuals. Excellent work came in from all over the world in all categories: amazing 3D games, clever connected games, cross platform games, but also many Flash games looking a lot better than the ones we saw last year."

Mobile Entertainment magazine has been a proud IMGA media partner since 2004.
