Music service iLike is revamping its Local Concerts iPhone app to add personalisation and push notifications.
The app has been available for a while, and lets users search for upcoming gigs in their local area. However, the new version makes use of the latest iPhone 3.0 software in several ways.
For starters, it will scan the music people have stored on their iPhone or iPod touch to serve up personalised gig listings. It also uses the new push notification feature to alert users when a band from their collection is playing locally.
Maps to venues are also now displayed within the application itself. iLike says it has submitted the new version to Apple for approval, and is awaiting a release date.
Meanwhile, iLike has also announced that more than 250 bands and musicians have signed up for its new iPhone Apps for Artists scheme, which creates and launches individual apps for artists, which they can then update from within iLike itself.
Among those using the new service are Sonic Youth, The Cribs, Ingrid Michaelson, Jimmy Cliff and Swing Out Sister.

Artists are able to decide whether they want to charge for their apps, or make them available for free.
"We're encouraged by the positive response our create-your-own-app platform has generated, and this is only the beginning," says CEO Ali Partovi (pictured). "We're helping artists save time, make money and remain in constant contact with fans."
