Ikivo says its mobile SVG client has shipped in more than 250 million handsets worldwide.
It also believes that over 375 million handsets now comprise mobile SVG in total. have been shipped globally.Ikivo is the flagwaver for mobile SVG, which is an open standard 2D graphics technology that delivers smoother scrolling content products and interfaces. It says mobile SVG is built by and for the mobile industry and contrasts this with proprietary technologies such as Flash Lite.
Magnus Zetterberg, head of business development at Ikivo, said: "We continue to see a rapid growth of the SVG community. SVG has been chosen as the key enabler in several open standards for rich media such as the 3GPP DIMS and the OMA RME specifications. The powerful features of SVG are also made available to the Java community through the JSR 226 interface; now becoming a mandatory part of the mass market devices."
