But could Bubble Town's BubbleBucks make the transition to iPhone too?
I-play has launched a new version of its Bubble Town game on Facebook that lets players buy virtual items including power-ups, bonus packs and gifts for friends.
The game uses a virtual currency called BubbleBucks. Players are given 2,000 for free when they sign up, but then can buy more with real money, at an exchange rate of $1 per 7,500 BubbleBucks. The virtual currency can also be earned for free by playing the game.
It's the first such experiment for I-play, which now sits within casual gaming giant Oberon Media. Bubble Town actually started life as a mobile game, before becoming a roaring success on Facebook.
"Once we roll out the business model, we will use it across a lot of platforms where our games are," Oberon CEO Tomer Ben-Kiki tells VentureBeat.
That raises the prospect of I-play introducing the model in future iPhone versions of Bubble Town, using Apple's new in-app payments feature.
